  Legendary Racers Turn Back The Hands Of Time At Road America

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., (September 4, 2012) - Vintage racers from across the U.S. will take to the track September 7-9 as Road America hosts the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association (VSCDA) Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival ® . The weekend regularly attracts nearly 300 vintage and historic racecars to run over the three-day event including a field of pre-war models. The fan-friendly paddock is open to spectators for close-up views of amazing racing machines prepared to era-specifications all weekend. On Saturday fans can watch a historic road course reenactment tour, which will leave Road America and follow a route almost identical to the street course driven in the early 1950s.

Race fans are encouraged to participate in the historic road course reenactment. The cost is $15.00 per car and participants must register at Road America's registration building at gate six by 1:30 on Saturday. In addition to the reenactment tour, the VSCDA will host its special Gather on the Green event, which is a display of over 60 vintage, classic and exotic cars and motorcycles on the back lawn of the Osthoff Resort from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday night. Legendary racer, Augie Pabst, is the honored guest for the weekend.

Tickets to the Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival can be purchased at the main gate which opens daily at 7 a.m. Kids 12 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Road America's 2012 season will conclude with the prestigious SCCA National Championship Runoffs ® , Sept. 20-23.
