Macon, Ill. August 18---Bryan Clauson won the Ninth Annual 30-lap Dana Godfrey Memorial POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget and Stark Automotive Group/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Series co-sanctioned feature, Saturday night at Macon Speedway. Bubba Altig despite finishing 23rd clinched the Badger Midget Drivers Championship, with two races remaining. Altig becomes the 40th different Driver Champion in the organizations 76-year history.

Rico Abreu took the lead at the start pacing the first two laps, before Nick Knepper took the lead. Clauson passed seven cars in the first three laps moving into third place. Clauson passed Knepper for the lead on the ninth lap, with Coons taking the lead on Lap 11. Clauson regained the lead running ahead of Coons and Knepper.

A caution with eight laps remaining erased Clauson's advantage. Coons made his attempt for the lead, on the final lap entering Turn 3, but fell short. Clauson driving the Corey Tucker-BCI-Curb-Agajanian owned Spike/Ford-Esslinger No. 39, finished one-car length ahead of Coons, Knepper, Casey Shuman, and Brett Anderson. The victory was the second straight for Clauson, and third Badger victory of the season.

Altig ran his first season with Badger in 2007, and was runner-up last season. The battle for the Car Owners Championship remains close as Hans Lein No. 2 holds a 59-point lead over D&I Motorsports No. 19. The triple header weekend ends on Sunday Aug. 19 with the running of the Corn Fest Midget Classic at Angell Park Speedway (Sun Prairie, Wis.), tri-sanctioned event with USAC, Badger and POWRi.
