Beaver Dam - Dave Schoenberger (Beaver Dam) held off a hard-charging Jeremy Christians (Horicon) to pick up his second modified 'A' main feature victory of the season Saturday night at Beaver Dam Raceway.

Schoenberger passed Joe McGrath (Neosho) on the second lap of the 20-lap feature and led the rest of the race. And off he went.

Schoenberger led by a full straightway just three laps later.

But Christians made his charge toward the front and passed McGrath for second on lap 7. Christians, the defending track champion, has been consistent this season. He has eight top-10 finishes this season, including six runnersup. But is winless this season. Points leader Matthew Rechek (Beaver Dam) finished eighth and saw his nine-point lead over Christians dwindle to four points. Don Scheffler (Milwaukee) is third in the points, 23 points behind Rechek.

Noah Schepp (Beaver Dam) finished third. Craig Priewe (Beaver Dam) finished fourth and McGrath wound up fifth.

Will Sorce (Franklin), Schepp and Priewe won the modified heat races.

Scheffler finished seventh in the feature.

Ezekiel Bishofberger (Fort Atkinson) is showing similar dominance that he did last season on his way to the track championship. What's different is he's only raced four times this season after Saturday's sport modified feature.

Bishofberger won his second feature of the season. He has also finished second and third this season.

Adam Pugh (Omro) finished second, followed by Aaron Muhle (Juneau), Kevin Reed (West Allis) and Colten Van Hierden (Beaver Dam).

Pugh, who started the race in second, led the first eight laps of the 20-lap feature.

On the race's third restart, Pugh got a good jump, but got loose in Turn 2, which allowed Bishofberger to duck underneath Pugh and take the lead.

Pugh had one more chance to pass Bishofberger after the race's fifth caution on lap 11. But Bishofberger got the jump and drove away from the field.

Pugh and Muhle won the heat races.

Raymond Keyser (Beaver Dam) holds a slim points lead. He leads Muhle by just two points. Leroy Ostrowski (Milwaukee) is four points back of Keyser, and Van Hierden is 10 points back of Keyser.

Todd Ascherien (Beaver Dam) won a thrilling grand national 'A' main, his second feature victory of the season.

Ascherien beat Thomas Moore (West Allis) by 0.037 seconds in a race that featured four lead changes. Moore led the first 13 laps of the 20-lap feature. Ascherien took the lead on lap 14. Moore and Ascherien battled side-by-side for the final handful of laps, setting up the exciting finish.

Kenneth Richards (Montello), the defending track champion, making just his second feature start of the season, finished third. Roger Lee (Wind Lake), the series points leader, finished fourth. Don Schumacher (Oconomowoc) rounded out the top five.

Moore and Richards won the heat races.

Lee leads Ascherien by 20 points in the season standings. But the battle for second is tight as second through fifth places are separated by 23 points.

Ethan Ross (Reeseville) passed Brandon Schmitt (Beaver Dam) with two laps to go to pick up his fifth 'A' main feature victory of the season. Joe Johnson (Slinger) finished third, followed by Matthew Streekstra (Beaver Dam) and Christopher Flick (Beaver Dam) to round out the top five. Division points leader Dallas Ross (Reeseville) finished sixth.

Ross leads Schmitt by just five points. Eric Barth (Sauk City), the defending track and national champion, is third, 27 points behind Ross. Michael Mueller (Waupun) is fourth, 29 points behind Ross.

Dustin Smits (Randolph) won his second-straight 'A' main feature in the street stock division. However, he was disqualified after the race, which gave the victory to Kelly Brown (Beaver Dam).

For Brown, it was his fourth-straight top-two finish. He also the feature June 16.

Brandon Riedner (Waunakee) was second, followed by Jesse Krahn (Beaver Dam), Jeffrey Jesberger (Sun Prairie) and Mark Baker (Milwaukee).

Kyle Riedner and Smits were the heat-race winners.

Brandon Riedner leads Jesberger by 24 points.
