Brannam Tops The Charts During Preseason Testing At Wilmot by Brannam Motorsports 5/1/2010 A large group of drivers were on hand at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI for the 2010 season opening test session. Amongst them was 44 time racing champion, Jessica Brannam. Like the rest, she was there to shake off the rust from a long off season and to prepare her car for the up coming season. Unfortunately, racers in the Midwest have to wait out a long winter off season before they get a chance to hit the race track and start a new season of racing. None is more eager to get back at it than Brannam. She immediately showed her enthusiasm by setting the time to beat in the first round of practice. "Wow!" exclaimed Brannam. "The car felt great and even though the track was dry and slick I could put it wherever I wanted." The only driver to best Jessica's fast time was Jessica herself. In each practice round she improved her speed. "It is only testing, but it always feels good to be the fastest. It was a very long winter and driving a race car again is just what I needed." Brannam went on to say, "I trained very hard in the off season and I felt very strong behind the wheel today." The 2009 season was not as kind to Jessica as she would have liked and she is looking forward to a stronger 2010. Due to mechanical failure, Jessica did not finish over 30% of her races in 2009. When her car did not fail her, she was very strong. Even with such a high failure rate, Brannam still ended 2009 with 2 heat race victories, 1 feature race victory, 3 poles and she finished the season 4th in points. "I don't want to sound so surprised about being as fast as we were today, but the car is basically the same as last year. The one thing we did do over the winter was put Boca Bearings on my sprint car. I have used Boca Bearings on my go karts for many years and have won most of my championships with Boca." Brannam said. Weather permitting, Wilmot Raceway will open for the 2010 racing season within the next few weeks. Brannam hopes to move her way up a few more places in the season points standings during 2010. |
